This is a print screen of the start of my front cover. I have decided to use this image because I feel he is looking directly into the camera, connecting with the reader in a way that seems different to the other images. I love the camera shot (Medium shot) of Austin as he looks similar to Justin Bieber on the NME cover which I personally loved and was aiming for with this image. I love this image because I feel it reflects the target audience in the way that they love to be stylish, popular and are mainstream. This image, to me, works well with the light grey background. Especially the black t-shirt with the illusion of white paint splattered on it, which adds to the magazine by making it look stylish and unique.
I also started to work on the masthead. I decided to use a font similar to the one of 'VOGUE' magazine as I feel it works well with the font of the splash. I loved the thin font because it is easier for the reader to identify this font with the magazine because most other magazines use a bolder font so, therefore, they all look quite similar. As it is thin, it becomes more attractive to the eye because it stands out against my other bold fonts, becoming more obvious.
I have added my slogan, 'TASTE THE POP!', so I can add in everything else, making it easy to position everything. Next, the footer and header was added. I wanted the footer and header to be black with a white font. I loved this contrast between the light grey and the black footer and header as it becomes completely bold and eye catching. The footer contains the website of the magazine to make it obvious to the reader as well as advertising 'Austin Fever's hit album'.
Together with this, I added the barcode and positioned it in an area I know won't fit much writing in.
I will continue to work on this page in the next couple of weeks to improve parts of the cover I am unhappy with and to finish the final cover.
